Bean Tree Cafe
Between September 2020-December 2021, Paul was the Theatre and Festival Events Coordinator for The Bean Tree Cafe & Sensory Garden, Bristol. During his time with the venue he both produced & co-devised the Halloween events 'The Spooky Spooktacular' (in 2020 & 2021) and curated R.O.O.T (Rambunctious One-of-a-kind Outdoor Theatre) Festival in Summer 2021. The latter showcased the work of
small-scale family theatre makers based in the South West.
'The Spooky Spooktacular 2020' consisted of performances of 'The Pumpkin Bumpkins' centred around eco-activist pumpkins, Gourdon & Melonie, on a mission to encourage humans to take the pumpkin pledge and by doing so vow to limit their vegetable waste over Halloween. Taken from Brave Bold Drama's Halloween-themed, storytelling show 'Sticky Ends: The Spooky Edition', the performance was followed by a Halloween-themed treasure trail in the Sensory Garden.
'The Spooky Spooktacular 2021' featured performances of family Halloween show 'The Midnight Mission' set in Villa Diodati where Frankenstein and other amazing spooky stories were made. Once again the performance was followed by a Halloween-themed treasure trail in the sensory garden. This time the trail consisted of an outdoor art gallery in the Bean Tree Cafe Sensory Garden introducing young people to spooky art from all over the world.
